You are more than a new max, or a faster time on a really tough workout. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting those things. Actually, it should be expected that you’ll get better, faster, and stronger. But when we let ourselves loose our emotion in a negative way over something like a missed lift, we should take a step back and look at a few things. Factors like sleep, how much you ate, stress and emotions caused from things we can’t usually control that happen outside of the gym play a huge role on our performance. Wanting to get better is an amazing trait to have. Let’s just remember that we are strong, amazing whether we’re at our best or not, cared about, and the best of all, LOVED! A PR doesn’t define us.
